-Logitech and Dell sound systems arranged as single output.

I can usually be found sitting in this chair 8-10 hours each day, so every measure has been taken to ensure the "in-flight" comforts required of any longterm workspace. This kind of screen real-estate is needed for extra heavy situations, however it is frequently used in both work- and play-related multitasking.

The "eight-core whore" chews through most anything I throw at her with relative ease. Of all the setups I've used throughout the years, this one tops the list with a winning combination of productivity and comfort.

It's hell working on Window vista platform - its slow and it takes forever to start up.
I just started using Mac, and it saves hell lots of time - simple to use - simplicity is good.

This is a view on how i am working on 2 different machines at the same time, with my seagate free agent as the middle man...

All mounts installed, everything wired back up, troubleshooting finished, top shelf organized, wires managed as much as possible. Took down the mounted speakers and hid them behind the monitors. I really don't use them that often anyways. Most everything runs though my GameCon headet the bulk of the time. I'm really satisfied with how it turned out, and now my monitors are exactly at eye level, and the extra desk space below them is wonderful.

The rule is to use the article a before words beginning with a consonant sound and an before one beginning with a vowel sound:
a dog
an eel
an hour

Disagreement exists with certain “h” words. For example, not everyone pronounces the h in herb, homage, and humble, but more and more native speakers do.

Depending upon vocal stress, one might hear either “a historic occasion” or “an historic occasion.” Most American speakers would probably say “a historic.” Either is correct in writing.

About the only common English “h words” that definitely require an are heir/heiress/heirloom, honest, honor/honorable, and hour:
an heir to the throne
an honest man
an honorable woman
an hour before

Which indefinite article to use before an abbreviation, a numeral, or a symbol, depends upon pronunciation.

Some examples from the Chicago Manual of Style:

a URL
an @ sign

CMOS also points out two possible readings of MS:

an MS treatment

Here the letters stand for “multiple sclerosis” and are read as “Em S.”

a MS in the National library

You’d write “an SUV” because SUV is pronounced one letter at a time and the sound of S is “ess.”

With the long hours I spend working (and sedentary) each day, I'm making an effort to do a good deal of my work standing in office.

No fancy standing desk yet, just a couple of storage boxes and a computer lap desk, parked atop my usual desk. At 6'2", I need a fair bit of height to make it comfortable for my wrists and neck.

三月六日是BIGPOW洗澡的日子，阿海帶領當代館的義工們幫BIGPOW洗SPA，打蠟全身亮晶晶。當天早上簡余晏議員和里長帶著媒體到BIGPOW公園來檢測音響的分貝數，讓BIGPOW上了各大媒體。
中山地下書街(B30/B32/B34)的展覽也布展完成：『聽說』台北當代藝術館廣場至捷運站公共藝術設置案特展，有李億勳的『台北傳奇』、梁任宏『也通風也報信』、許唐瑋『歡迎光臨銀河鐵道車站』還有我的BIGPOW，展期2.27～4.11早上11：00到晚上8：00。從Do you know？的翻板可以知道許多BIGPOW作品背後的故事。這兩頂『BIGPOW音響安全帽』每週日的下午2：00～5：00將開放拍照時間，歡迎大家去拍照，也可以騎著『BIGPOW Vespa』入鏡喔！

2010台北市府燈節投影幕後

燈節投影以奧地利團隊(Pain)的十八台巨型投影機為主體，其中包括6台BGT12GT projector以及12台BGT6GT projector。外加兩台15000流明的LCD投影機，再搭配Skybeam、citycolor等舞台燈具。從控台就可以看到這是一個整合巨型投影、動態投影、舞台燈光、音響設備及煙火特效的複雜工程，大部分的投影機、燈光都安裝於市府路對街的四座巨大層架中。節目『台客花』中跳舞機器人LuLubo使用了動作擷取技術，由龍華科技大學多媒體與遊戲發展科學系協力製作。

最近幫台北當代藝術館設計兩套商品，當代系列有Tee、書包，黑白色系，做給認同、喜歡當代館的粉絲們，走在路上告訴大家自己喜歡當代藝術館；另一套機器人系列，集合了我的機器人們，有提袋、背包、布皮筆記本，讓可愛的機器人陪著擁有者生活。這些商品將在當代館相關商店販售！

福虎生花三部曲

台北燈節即將於26日週五登場，除了傳統的虎年主燈，今年台北燈節的另一個最大特色，就是延續去年虛主燈的概念，將市府大樓變裝為公共藝術燈區，今年的公共藝術主燈展演，以青春花‧台客花‧宇宙花三部曲，展現動漫風格，將市府幻化成230米長×54米高，「會跳舞」的大燈籠。

副市長李永萍表示，文化局去年首度首次將白天是土黃色的市府大樓，晚上利用光畫藝術，讓市府大樓變身成一個大花燈，以燈光投影呈現變幻莫測的視覺饗宴，廣受好評。為呼應花博盛事，今年更是擴大規模，邀請動漫及流行音樂界赫赫有名的李明道藝術總監操刀，想像力十足。為求效果更亮麗，除了加強投影強度外，今年市府大樓每扇窗都貼上窗貼；市府後方華興麗華信義大樓更是慨然配合，燈節期間暫停夜間照明。今年的公共藝術主燈展演絕對會讓大家目不暇給，捨不得把目光移開！

藝術總監的李明道(Akibo)特別安排了三個不同年代藝術家的作品，搭配三首不同時代背景的音樂，規劃「福虎生花三部曲」，以「青春花」、「台客花」、「宇宙花」為主題，在市府大樓牆面譜出絢麗繽紛的聲光秀，讓民眾欣賞百花齊放的盛況。視覺與聽覺的感官體驗完美結合，整個市府大樓將幻化成一個大舞台，讓民眾就像看演唱會一樣過癮。李明道表示，今年燈節就是要大家開心好玩。

第一部曲「青春花」，在鳳飛飛演唱的台灣歌謠「青春嶺」輕快歌聲下，已故台灣素人畫家洪通充滿鄉土純真情感的畫作為視覺主軸。第二部曲「台客花」，由李明道自創虛擬機器人角色「LuLubo」，隨伍佰「你是我的花朵」歌曲大跳花朵舞。第三部曲「宇宙花」則以台灣新世代藝術家許唐瑋前衛科幻的畫作，搭配紐約新生代電子搖滾樂團MGMT歌曲「Kids」，市府大樓將變身太空船或外星球基地，帶領民眾進入幻想的空間。

除了聲光秀可滿足視聽感官，這次燈會還有更棒的創意，「開心福虎照過來─穿虎衣、戴虎帽」活動，讓民眾便成演出的一部份。李明道運用錯視的效果，將兩隻「開心福虎」投射在牆面上，這時市府大樓幻化成艋舺剝皮寮老街的紅磚街屋，兩隻開心福虎的臉部表情，則是由六千六百位民眾的臉不斷更替循環播放組成！而這些畫面，是事前在台北市實地拍攝民眾的大頭貼照，透過後製處理，成為老虎表情的一部分，為燈節增添不少趣味。

I am an RSS feed nut. I subscribe to hundreds of RSS feeds and the list is growing all the time. If I come across a blog or a site that appears to have interesting resources that are relevant for me, I subscribe to their feed without hesitation. Every morning I open up my Google Reader with a cup of coffee just like I used to do with my daily newspaper, only now the latest headlines are from my chosen sources and related specifically to my interests.

For freelancers, RSS feeds can be a great way to stay on top of the latest news and developments in your specific area of expertise. They can be utilized to continue your education, strengthen your skills and keep you on the forefront in your line of business. However, many people stop at only reading the feeds of their specific genre, rather than branching out and gathering knowledge in a number of other areas that, should you choose to learn about them, could broaden your capabilities and increase your offerings as a freelancer.

This post will look at a more elaborate approach to using RSS feeds in an effort to expand your understanding and knowledge in ways that can contribute to the growth of your freelance business. The idea is that you can never learn too much, and RSS feeds can be a valuable tool in the ongoing education of the well-rounded freelancer.

I don't have an office
I offered a consultancy session as an auction item recently. It was for a good cause. I didn't think the winner would contact me (you know how these things sometimes turn out), but lo and behold, within a week they did.

We had our meeting on Monday afternoon and I was impressed by what they're planning to do and the product they're developing (NDA was signed, so no further info will be forth coming). It also looks like they'll be bringing me onto the team going forward, in a consultancy basis.

However, the meeting ended up with me consulting with them. You see, the clients are a retired couple who invested wisely in their business and were able to 'get out' in their very early 50s. Both have served in upper executive management positions and they helped form the company the worked for until they sold their equity and retired.

They were really inspirational and gave me some great tips and pointers on what I should be doing to maximise my knowledge and earning potential, while increasing the time I have for the voluntary work I do for my church (I'm part of the Core Leadership Team, among other things). It's about that work-life balance.

One thing I'm planning on achieving in 2010 is having my own office. I like working from home, but it's becoming harder and harder as Fergus gets older to get the required space and peace to work efficiently. Another of my clients has a business incubation centre where you can rent furnished, managed offices. I'm looking to do a quid pro quo deal whereby I get an office for no money...That would tide me over for a few months until another of my clients moves into their new premises, whereby I'll have a space I can use.

Preparing my Next Sermon
I'm preaching more regularly these days and it's something I really enjoying doing. Along with leading the Alpha Course at our church, I'm asked to preach almost once a month there and in other churches around Glasgow. At first churches were asking me to come and speak about my journey from being a Jehovah's Witness to seeing the "glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Cor 4:6). Nowadays I'm asked to preach on more traditional gospel themes.

Tomorrow morning I'm at Lenzie Christian Fellowship, a fairly new church, and I'm preaching on John 1:14, where it says that "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth". I've preached on this verse before and what jumped out at me was the idea of the grace that filled Christ reacting in varying degrees to the sin our lives, something that's intangible, unfathomable, unreachable, a bit like a rainbow. The analogy I use is that if our sin is like rain, Christ's grace is like the sun. When one hits the other a rainbow is formed, something beautiful and beyond our grasp. We're unable to do anything with our sin, only Christ with grace and truth can, the same as we can't ever get to the end of a rainbow, we can't get to the end of Christ's grace.

I love talking about grace. I was always brought up to use the term "underserved kindness" instead of grace. William Barclay has said that to call grace "underserved kindness" is to miss the point and puts an unnecessary negative connotation on it.

Jesus is also full of truth. He described himself as "the truth". Any religious order that refers to itself as The Truth is taking away what's rightfully the Christ's and places on itself a quality that's reserved for Christ (and the Word of God (also the Christ...)). That's sort of unacceptable, right?

Anyway, I've got my notebooks out, filled as they are with thoughts, observations, teachings etc, along with my ESV Study Bible. Oh, and some pens and pencils.
